Costing Engineer/Estimator

Quantum are currently working with a Global Tier 1 automotive supplier who employ over 40,000 people across 95 sites worldwide. We are working with one of their divisions which manufactures and markets bonded seals and various other bonded components for the automotive, aerospace and rail sectors. They have 2 European sites both with impressive growth plans to increase their output by between 100 - 300% over the next 6 years and build on their current profitability.

The site in the UK currently employs around 350 people and to prepare the site for this growth, they are recruiting for a Costing Engineer/Estimator to develop best practise purchasing techniques and supply chain philosophies. Ideally, this role will suit someone with experience in material cost management and a strong foundation in manufacturing.

Key Duties:

• Forming high-level cost estimates for new and existing products
• Identifying cost reduction opportunities
• Providing technical support to buyers
• Undertaking price change assessments to ensure value for money
• Working alongside the design team to develop cost effective solutions
• Providing relevant managers with status updates.

Candidate Requirements:

• Must have a strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and be commercially astute.
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Degree or qualification in engineering desirable
• Accurate in delivery with a keen eye for detail
• Organised and able to prioritise
• The ability to demonstrate cross functional teamwork
• Excellent communicator able to work as part of a team
• Highly numerate and computer literate
