We have an exciting Permanent opportunity for a Sales Manager to join the Protection Account Management Unit in Edinburgh. Within this role you will develop and motivate an effective team of account managers that will deliver agreed new business targets from Intermediaries in a manner that satisfies all regulatory and compliance responsibilities and meets corporate objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Achieving sales target for Royal London Protection by leading, managing, motivating and developing a team of Relationship Managers
  • Setting clear targets, monitoring performance, providing feedback, delivering inspiring coaching and ensuring that appropriate MI and business tools/knowledge are provided
  • Motivating the Telephone Sales Team to ensure they take every opportunity to promote Royal London's proposition to intermediary community
  • Ensuring the Telephone Sales Team are able to identify the appropriate client segmentation of the IFA to drive the relevant dual brand sales engagement
  • Ensuring Telephone Sales Team has thorough understanding of intermediaries' business and culture and use this to develop relationships and drive sales upwards
  • Ensuring Telephone Sales Team understands competitor activity and products and uses information effectively to target sales
  • Managing relationships with key accounts under remit
  • Driving contact strategy for regions in conjunction with Head of Remote Distribution
  • Ensuring that the right contact management and account management strategies are employed to optimise the opportunities with each customer group
  • Giving clear direction to telephone sales teams on targeted segmentation keeping a clear focus on the most profitable accounts
  • Ensuring Telephone Sales Team have plans in place to achieve targets
  • Preparing reports for Head of Remote Distribution
  • Reviewing MI to understand trends and allow creation of new telephone sales approaches and to ensure business opportunities are optimised
  • Attending Regional Sales Meetings as required

Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Extensive knowledge of the protection market
  • Knowledge and understanding of Royal London's proposition and products
  • Experience from within a similar role
  • Good technical knowledge of Business Protection
  • Some knowledge of trust planning and inheritance tax planning
  • Account/client management experience
  • Obtained RO1, RO3 and RO5 qualifications or working towards within an agreed timescale
  • Proven managerial skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and coaching skills
  • Experience of managing a team
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
