Well North

Well North is a movement helping to redefine Public Health in 10 specific communities across the North of England.  The overall methodology is to support and encourage local organisations, communities and entrepreneurs to develop and deliver programmes and projects that raise aspirations, create opportunities and employment that delivers real change, as this is a key route to address these heath public health issues.

Together Well North and our client are focusing the Well North principles on Waverley in Rotherham which has an intensive asset management and development programme scheduled for the coming years.

What is Waverley?

Waverley is a 740 acre development which will offer homes, business, and recreation facilities. The Advanced Manufacturing Park on the site has already attracted international companies such as Rolls Royce and Boeing and almost 4,000 homes are being built over the coming years. The development will also have a wide range of shops, cafes, and health, leisure and educations facilities. Over 200 acres of the site will be public spaces such as play areas, woodlands and two large lakes set in parkland.

What do we want to do?

The development will also have a wide range of shops, cafes, health, leisure and educational facilities. Over 200 acres of the site will be public spaces such as play areas, woodlands and two large lakes set in parkland.

How does a truly engaged community live, work and play and what impact does this have on health and wellbeing?  They want to embrace creativity, technology, and support local communities and volunteers to maximise the opportunities that the new development offers, not just for Waverley but the surrounding towns and villages.

They are aiming to support the community to identify what’s needed and create a practical and realistic plan to make this happen with the resources available and in a way that ensures longevity.   They want to learn and evidence what works so they can expand this approach.

The Project Co-ordinator will sit within the Enterprise team which has a proven track record and expertise in successfully co-producing and growing small-scale innovative services across the Sheffield City Region. The role of the enterprise team is to drive original initiatives with a commercial edge that have the capacity for a positive impact as well as financial sustainability.  This is a part time (18.5 hours per week) role on a fixed term contract of 12 months.

Who is our client looking for?

They are looking for a highly motivated individual who is passionate about supporting local communities to thrive and develop. They need someone to engage and motivate business, community organisations and residents in Waverley and the surrounding areas and support them to create a lasting legacy in the community.  This is a unique opportunity to have the autonomy to apply your creativity, passion and entrepreneurial spirit to a new venture which aims to make things better for everyone in Waverley but also the surrounding areas of Rotherham.
