Temporary Research Assistant (Politics) – Research & Economics Department (Ref: 646)

A vacancy exists for a Temporary Research Assistant (Politics) in the Research & Economics Department based at the Union’s Head Office in Manchester.

The vacancy is temporary (for a period of up to 12 months) due to maternity leave in the department.

Principal duties are: to provide a support service to the Political Officer and to provide information, advice and support on political, party political, campaigning, employment and social issues.

The successful applicant will possess: a degree in a relevant area or equivalent relevant experience in a research related role in the Trade Union and Labour Movement; a detailed understanding of Labour Party policy, structures, procedures and issues; an awareness of the industrial and wider community interests of the Union's members and the relevance of Labour Party policy and activity in that context; IT skills; effective communication and the ability to analyse, interpret and evaluate evidence.
