On behalf of our client, a large engineering company based in the Barnsley area, we are recruiting for a Production Manager to join their team on a Permanent Basis

Production Manager
Based: Barnsley
Pay: £17.50 per hour Basic £60k+ (earning potential, incl. shift premium, O/T and bonuses).
Overtime required and paid at 1.5 rate for first 4 hours per day, then at 2.0 rate.
25 - 30 days paid holiday, plus bank holidays.
4% contributory pension scheme.

To effectively manage and develop people, plant, layout and systems, to achieve effective, efficient, safe, quality production across the manufacturing site.

Main Tasks of Job:

To oversee and lead the site production, in line with company strategy and key performance indicators.
Efficient organisation and utilisation of material, staff, processes, and layout including compliance with health and safety standards, skills flexibility, and commercial achievement of product quality, delivery and cost requirements.
Effectively manage/eliminate bottleneck constraints and drive throughput improvement.
Encourage and facilitate improvements promoted from the employee teams. Measuring, reporting and managing performance indicators within each team.
Support new product introduction and outsourcing activities.
People / culture development and training in alignment with new methods / practices / products being introduced.
Ensure comprehensive TPM procedures and activities are adhered to. Maintain full understanding and adherence to ISO 9001/ISO14001/18001 standards. Manage H&S and Environmental activities and improvements within the production area.

Qualifications & Experience:

Minimum 5 years in a Production Management role within a Manufacturing environment
Preferably Automotive background (not essential), must demonstrate an understanding of Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques
Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline or evidence of extensive experience working in an engineering / production environment
Computer literate: Standard Microsoft tools, Excel, Word, Powerpoint. ERP system user.
