Vacancy: Facilities Manager

Location: Crayford, close to Dartford

Salary: Support Scale 7, 25-28, GBP29,182-GBP31,508, good overtime rates available

Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year, overtime rota including 1 in 3 weekends and some evenings for lettings etc.

The Company: Our client is a Federation of schools based in Crayford, close to Dartford. The Federation aims to deliver educational excellence and offers a balanced and challenging curriculum throughout, ensuring accessibility to all. The school educates children from Nursery to Sixth Form through the use of innovative, personalised learning and excellent, specialised teaching.
Due to retirement, there is currently an excellent opportunity for a Facilities Manager to join the team on a full time basis.

The Role: Reporting to the Business Manager, the Facilities Manager will have overall responsibility for multi-site security, cleaning, building and grounds maintenance. You will line manage a facilities team and maintain high standards of presentation, repair and cleanliness across the sites. Additionally, you will manage lettings; covering on-site security, and support for hire hours as part of a rota on additional paid hours.

The Candidate: To be considered for the role of Facilities Manager, you will need knowledge of regulatory bodies and compliance as you will have responsibility for all planned maintenance, health and safety compliance, including the writing of risk assessments. Our client requires an effective communicator (both written and verbal) and a good negotiator for use when dealing with contractors. Ideally you will be confident in using IT and the use of a Facilities Management system.

Essential Candidate Criteria:
  • Health & Safety qualification - IOSH managing safely
  • Risk assessment training as an assessor - i.e. fire assessment, general assessment etc.
  • Excellent team player
  • Flexibility to manage and work as part of a facilities team
  • Knowledge of regulatory bodies and compliance
  • Effective communicator (both written and verbal)
  • Good negotiator for use when dealing with contractors
  • Confident in using IT and the use of a Facilities Management system

Desirable Candidate Criteria:
  • Experience in schools
