To lead a team that provides Blenheim Chalcot and its portfolio businesses a differentiating advantage in

  • finance services design and delivery, utilising a shared service offshore model;
  • ERP solutions management and processes for continuous improvement;
  • finance management of Venture Builder services, Blenheim Chalcot start-ups and incubation activity;
  • financial control and oversight.

The CFO will be responsible for the design, delivery and management of the financial service offering to Blenheim Chalcot and its portfolio companies, comprising a shared service back office financial processing, accounting and reporting service (based in India), an ERP platform offering, and a UK finance team delivering group oversight, control and client management.

The CFO will bring their experience of ERP systems to bear, including providing oversight of required developments.

The CFO will be responsible for financial management of Venture Builder Services (which delivers services to the portfolio companies), BC start-ups and incubation activity; owning, driving, monitoring and managing budgets, forecasts and business plans to drive the purpose and performance.

The CFO will also manage finance managers/ business partners who are deployed into Blenheim Chalcot small to medium portfolio companies to

  • own financial management and drive performance;
  • ensure that financial systems and controls are appropriate for the stage and priorities of the business;
  • improve reporting for the individual companies and lead on other aspects of best practice financial management; and
  • support the hiring process of new finance roles.

The CFO role is truly pivotal role and its impact will be fundamental to the development and growth of the Blenheim Chalcot portfolio. This is a genuine opportunity for an individual to broaden their experience at an exciting time for Blenheim Chalcot.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain strong working relationships with the Blenheim Chalcot finance community, banks and advisors;
  • Produce a monthly suite of management reports for Venture Builder Services with KPIs, that have an emphasis on performance against plans, and provide up to date forecasts for decision-making;
  • Develop financial models for Venture Builder Services that give a 5 year forward look with scenarios and sensitivities;
  • Lead and deliver efficient and high-quality finance services to BC portfolio businesses through
    • Client engagement activities;
    • Commercial offerings that provide a clear value proposition and pricing model
    • Processes to ensure quality of services is maintained;
    • Operational improvement initiatives;
    • Strategic development plans for finance services that are commensurate with the aspirations of portfolio businesses;
  • Develop the financial "playbook" for optimal design and running of financial servicesfor businesses at different stages (using a shared services offshore capabilityand an ERP platform),and a best practice tool kit for financial management and control;
  • Manage the portfolio finance managers/ business partners who are deployed to small to medium portfolio businesses and contribute to the development and delivery of finance strategy in these businesses;
  • Disseminate best practice and training on financial compliance, governance and regulation to portfolio businesses;
  • Manage a team of up to 5 - 10
  • direct reports, and be comfortable working with an offshore shared services model;
  • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation, presentation and interpretation of the year end accounts for Blenheim Chalcot group level companies.

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with excellent academic qualifications. It is essential that successful applicant is comfortable delivering leadership across the 'end to end' finance function. Excellent stakeholder management experience is essential to being successful in this role.

  • Qualified accountant (+5 years PQE), at least 10 years of professional experience in financial roles;
  • Experience as an FD supporting and driving growth of businesses from start-up to scale-up stages;
  • Experience of working in a central finance function and managing or working closely with an offshoredshared services centre that offersservices to multiple companies;
  • Experience implementing or improving ERP systems solutions
  • Commercially astute, articulate and technically strong;
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to really add value to both the commercial and financial operations of the portfolio businesses ;
  • Energetic, highly motivated, with an enquiring mind and passion for excellence and innovation in pursuit of business growth and success;
  • Be comfortable in a fluid, progressive and dynamic, change orientated environment, and able to deploy
    • a proactive and confident approach;
    • excellent communication and organisation skills;
  • Dynamic, insightful and influential with the ability to operate at strategic and operational levels;
  • Excellent stakeholder management experience and ability to prioritise effectively - the role will be liaising with, getting input from and challenging/supporting multiple senior people across our businesses, central services and key partners such as banks who will have competing and high demands.
