We are recruiting a Fire Service Engineer Level 2 for our client in Aldermaston, Berkshire.

Working a 9 day fortnight - Week 1 - Monday-Friday, Week 2 - Monday-Thursday between 07:45-16:30 (16:15 on Fridays)

As well as a competitive salary on offer, a GBP4000 Site Allowance is also provided.

Job Purpose: To carry out System Maintenance, Reactive & Additional Works to, Automatic Fire Detection and Alarm Systems, including mechanical Gas extinguishing systems. Working at AWE within the South Region as part of team dealing with all aspects of fire service and additional works requirements.
Principle Accountabilities:

Service & Maintenance of Fire detection and extinguishing systems in accordance with relevant standards and company guide lines.

Complete timesheets weekly and provide monthly mileage and expenses returns.

Comply with policies relating to Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Technical Compliance issues that affect the customer and employees.

Ensure all relevant engineering practices are adhered to.

Maintain company issued equipment in good order.

Ensure good timekeeping and housekeeping.

Return necessary paperwork to Administration team or Manager as required.

Carry out all duties in accordance with the Company Safety Manual.

Advise Line Manager of progress on the contract.

Develop and maintain effective Client relationship and assist in gaining future work for the Company.

Control and manage tools and plant on site to ensure that resources are in accordance with the job.

Provide weekly progress reports to Line Manager.

Advise Line Manager on a daily basis of the progress on the contract.

Generate quotes identifying additional works and provide quotation information as necessary.

To participate & comply with material ordering and procurement procedures.

Work in a cost effective and efficient manner, ensuring that all systems worked upon are operational.

Wear company issued clothing at all times.

Will be required to be on call-out rota, for out of hour's call-outs.

Attend any training courses that EMCOR deems necessary.

Carry out any other reasonable task as requested by Management.

Person Specification:

Basic PC skills

Basic Electrical or Electronic skills

Knowledge and experience of Permits to Work, Method
Statements and Risk Assessments

Health & Safety Training & COR (Near Miss reporting)

Knowledge of relevant Fire standards BS 5839 Pt 1 - 2013, BS 6266 Pt 1 - 2011, BS 7273 Standards.

Basic diagnostic and fault finding skills

Knowledge of Fire Extinguishing systems and interfaces.

Experience;

Delivery of both Service and Reactive Maintenance to Fire Detection and Alarm systems compliant with regulatory and clients contracted requirements.

Completing works in accordance with all statutory health & safety regulations, and any client specific requirements.

Proven experience within a similar role or environment

Proven experience on the service and maintenance of Automatic Fire Alarm Systems.

Ability to operate PC software packages used for configuration and maintenance purposes

Adhere to ISO 9001,ISO 9002 Quality Procedures in accordance with the company quality manual, along with All Security & Fire Standards and good working practices

Ensure that all work under your control is carried out in accordance with all statutory health & safety regulations current at the time of the contract, the company's safety manual, and any other safety requirements specific to the contract or requested by the client.

Maintain the strong working relationship between the client and EMCOR Facilities Services Ltd

Carry out tasks as requested by Line Manager

Control, manage and maintain tools, equipment and plant on site, and ensure that equipment resources are fit for purpose and adequate for the assigned works.

Co-ordinate and professionally carry out Planned Preventive Maintenance and Reactive Activities in conjunction with Specialist Services Service Centre requests and/or site/clients database requirements

To be responsible and monitor all contracted, Automatic Fire Alarm Systems, safely within assigned area or any given contract.

To carry out any reasonable request for reactive calls or site system moves and changes both by way of small works installation and commissioning.

Take responsibility for notifying the Service Centre of all activity, the maintaining of up to date records of work carried out and the updating of PPM scope of works database and site log books

To participate & comply with Material ordering & Procurement procedure

To ensure all reactive works are carried out in accordance with Service Level Agreements..

Attainments;

Essential

Educated to City & Guilds or equivalent (eg NVQ level 3) in installation of electrical and electronic equipment.

FIA Module Unit 1 (FD&A system Basic Design)

FIA Module Unit 5 (FD&A Maintenance)

Proven ability to service and repair Fire Detection and Gas Extinguishing systems.

Proven experience of working within a similar role or environment

Knowledge of relevant standards (BS(Apply online only) Fire detection and alarm BS6266 Fire protection for electronic equipment installations)

Diagnostic and fault finding skills, with the ability to resolve by elimination and/or technical recommendations.

Knowledge and experience of permits to work systems, method statement and risk assessments

Qualifications and Experience:

Educated to City & Guilds or equivalent (eg NVQ level 3) in installation of electrical and electronic equipment.

FIA Module Unit 1 (FD&A system Basic Design)

ONC or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic engineering

Proven ability to service and repair Fire Detection and Gas Extinguishing systems.
