East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust provides a wide range of acute and tertiary care services from four hospitals. The area we serve for acute hospital care covers a population of around 600,000 people and includes south, east and north Hertfordshire, as well as parts of Bedfordshire. Our main catchment is a mixture of urban and rural areas in close proximity to London. We employ some 5,000 staff and our annual budget is approximately GBP425 million. Our vision is 'To be amongst the best' and our Trust values are pivotal in helping us to achieve this aim. We need all our staff to demonstrate, promote and encourage these values and be able contribute on the journey to realising this objective. With this in mind we are now about to embark on the process to recruit to the key post of Deputy Director of Finance. As one of two Deputy Directors of Finance the post-holder will play a key role in ensuring we deliver our financial recovery programme. As Deputy you will have a remit over the leadership and performance management of the Financial Management & Services Department. You will ensure that the department supports the Trust in the delivery of our key strategic and business objectives; department systems and processes are fit for purpose; and staff are trained & equipped to deliver support and services. You will act as the lead officer co-ordinating the production of the Trust's annual & charitable accounts, associated returns, and the annual budget setting process. In addition to this you will ensure the accurate and timely provision of monthly financial reporting data across the Trust and to appropriate external bodies. We are looking to attract an outstanding individual with the ability to develop a clear understanding of the Trust's structure, strategy and objectives and ensure these are reflected in the day to day running of the finance department. You will have a detailed knowledge of the NHS budgeting and financial planning process, and the general NHS finance regime including Payment by Results and commissioning. As our suitable candidate you will be able to demonstrate highly developed communication skills with the ability to communicate complex financial data to non-finance managers. You will have gained strong management and leadership skills and will be able to deputise for the Director of Finance at Board meetings, as and when required. If you are as passionate about the NHS and you would like to join us on our exciting journey, then we would welcome your interest and application.
