Join Livability as a Registered Nurse to support individuals with Spinal Cord Injuries on their rehabilitation programme.
An exciting development opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse to work in a 13 bedded specialist service for individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI) at Livability's new innovative service based at Holton Lee, in Dorset.
The Centre is located in the heart of Livability Holton Lee - a wellbeing discovery centre set in 350 acres of beautiful Dorset countryside that provides people of all abilities opportunities to develop physical, spiritual and mental well-being.
Your role
During time limited stays at the Livability Spinal Injury Centre, the aim is to maintain and enhance wellbeing, independence and life opportunities for people with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI). The main purpose of this role is to provide clinical support to service users with SCI and to ensure that each service user has an appropriate care and support plan in place, as well as to supervise and support staff employed at the Centre.
You will effectively run the allocated shift / shift lead by ensuring that the people we support receive their care as per their individualised care support plan. You will plan, review, give direction, develop staff, coach and monitor as needed. In return, we'll give you all the support you need, a great working environment and a wide range of benefits.
To be successful in this role you will:
• Be passionate about transforming lives
• RGN +/- RMNH or LD
• Have knowledge of the Health and Social model of disability and care/support planning
• At least 1 years Clinical Nursing experience within a general medical and/or surgical setting with an emphasis on rehabilitation. Spinal Cord Injury experience is desirable, but full training will be given.
• Level 1 RGN
With a focus on equipping people with SCI to manage life back home in their community the service will support people to:
• Maintain and further improve health and functional outcomes
• Access appropriate housing
• Engage in meaningful recreational activities both on site and in their own local area
• Engage in vocational opportunities and transition back to employment where possible
• Readjust psychologically, socially and economically to the effects of their Spinal Cord Injury.
The service will be provided in a domestic style, person-centred atmosphere. It will allow service users to explore the limits and possibilities of their situation in a safe and stimulating environment. Features include fully accessible single en-suite rooms, an independence kitchen, and indoor therapy space together with vocational and recreational opportunities on and off the site.
The post holder will need to be able to work flexibly across a 24 / 7 rota, including sleep-ins.
If you wish to play a leading part in this new and innovative development for people with SCI and would like further information about the job role please contact Fiona Stephenson, Service Manager, by calling (Apply online only).
