YOUR ROLE

We have an excellent new opportunity for a Laboratory Operations Manager to join our global organisation. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for;
• Managing the Laboratory Operations of the Drakelands On-Site Laboratory
• Managing Laboratory personnel and ensure QH&S procedures are adhered to
• Manage the Day to Day Client Relationship with Wolf Minerals
• Act as technical focal point for laboratory Data and Plant Processing Chemistry.

Key Accountabilities

• Allocate and monitor resources so that client's needs are satisfied in a safe, accurate, economical and timely manner to ensure contractual delivery.
• Ensure QH&S procedures are adhered to, both an internal and client requirement.
• Maintain Quality Standards to an industry recognised Standard and ensure the laboratory meet UK and Global Mineral Quality Standards (ISO 17025) that is essential to the commercial viability of the laboratory and customer confidence.
• Authorisation of laboratory reports and technical / H&S/ QA governance to ensure contractual and QH&S requirements are achieved.
• Act as a technical and contract focal point to key clients to ensure service delivery.
• Implementation/ commissioning of equipment to ensure ongoing laboratory efficiencies.
• Provide Weekly / Monthly KPI to SGS and Client to Demonstrate Laboratory Performance
• Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of laboratory and analytical techniques and equipment, ability to demonstrate knowledge, communicate and train others.
• Maintain organised and auditable systems of work to ensure reduced corrective actions from clients and UKAS audits.
• Act as Local Quality Manager for the Plymouth Laboratory. Responsible for the local execution of the quality system, in order to ensure continuing compliance with GLP / ISO17025.

YOUR PROFILE

Essential

• Must be computer literate in use of MS packages.
• Must have detailed understanding of international analytical standards and operational procedures.
• Knowledge of LIMS and quality systems ( RE SGS: CAPR, CRYSTAL CCLAS and BOSS).
• Effective interpersonal, teamworking and organisational skills.
• Extensive experience in Laboratory Operations / Mine Plant analysis or related Industry.
• Ability to plan and co-ordinate laboratory operations and effectively manage projects including costing and profitability.
• Demonstrate experience of delivering and assessing laboratory techniques and standards.
• Degree in chemistry or related science subject.
• Current driving license.

Desirable

• Knowledge of auditing procedures and techniques.
• Knowledge and understanding of Plant Geochemistry and Meturalogical Process, Plant operations and Production.
• Formal audit qualification.
• Recognised formal management training
