About the HR Manager role

We are looking for an ambitious and innovative HR Manager to lead the HR Team for BULK POWDERS® across two sites in Colchester and London. The HR Manager will be responsible for providing support to over 160 employees, working closely with managers across the business on a variety of employee relations, compliance and employee engagement subjects. 

The HR Manager will act as the most senior advisor on employment law matters in the business and should have a good background in advising on a variety of complex ER issues. 
We have a diverse workforce with a range of job roles from food production, manual workers and office staff, and therefore would suit someone who has experience working as a HR professional in a variety of work environments. This a fast-paced, high-growth and ambitious business and therefore requires a HR Manager that will not only focus on the day to day but look to continually improve the department and the business as a whole. 

What will your role involve?

+ HR strategy and coordinating HR initiatives that align the company’s goals, particularly in relation to employee engagement and retention 
+ Managing and developing a small HR team 
+ Working closely with the leadership team advising on ER issues, best practice and change management from a commercial perspective
+ Advising the leadership team on employee impact of business initiatives, projects, policies and procedures 
+ Coaching line managers to develop their people management skills 
+ Overseeing recruitment for all departments across the business, understanding how to attract and retain talent in an competitive market particularly for specialist skill areas
+ Designing and implementing a L&D programme that suits the business and allows its employee’s to develop and grow with the business 
+ Leading HR projects to deliver continuous improvement in the department and across the business 
+ Keeping current policies and procedures up-to-date and in line with employment legislation
+ Responsibility for the HRM system (CIPHR) and time and attendance software (ActinTime) to ensure employee data is efficiently processed and kept up-to-date 
+ Managing the protection of employee data (ensuring all HR processes are GDPR compliant)
+ Working with the Finance Manager on monthly payroll
+ Analysing HR data and producing reports for the Board 
+ Supporting the operations team with H&S on-site

What are we looking for?

+ Strong experience in a similar role with a varied HR background 
+ CIPD qualified (Level 5 or 7) 
+ Experience working with and advising managers at director/C-Level 
+ Strong background in coaching managers on people management 
+ Experience managing a small HR team
+ Proven ability to handle ER issues efficiently and support colleagues in an empathic and fair manner 
+ Strong experience with change management and employee communications 
+ Hands-on and proactive approach to work with the ability to work on own initiative
+ Professional, friendly and approachable manner 
+ Keen interest in employee engagement and retention with the initiative to propose new ideas and implement positive changes 
+ Meticulous attention to detail 
+ Experience with payroll (or at least intermediate MS Excel and numerically capable) 
+ Experience with the configuration and administration of HRM Systems (experience with CIPHR would be advantageous) 
+ Previous HR project management experience would be a strong advantage 
+ Some exposure to H&S Management would be advantageous but not essential 
+ Good background in recruitment in a fast-growth business would be beneficial 

Role will be based in Colchester but occasional travel to the London Office will be required.
