The Business:
The company is a world class on-line bookstore specializing in second hand high quality textbooks across an enormous variety of subjects, based in Hertfordshire. They aim to provide a vast range of textbooks, rare and collectible books at a great price. They also offer a book disposal service that is free of charge and collects all books. They work with libraries across the UK to reduce their environmental impact by recycling and diverting hundreds of thousands of books from landfills.
The Role:
They are currently looking to recruit a Warehouse Supervisor on a full-time basis, 09-18 Monday to Friday. This is a temp to perm role with an initial 3-month contract. The starting salary is £20,000 - £21,000 dependent on experience.
Location:
This role is based in Newgate Street Village and public transport is limited so you will require your own transport (free parking available onsite).
Principle Responsibilities:
- Experience in supervising people, coaching employees and communicating job expectations
- Determining staffing levels and assigning workload, organizing the daily warehouse operation
- Experience in receiving, identifying and dispatching of high turnaround high volume goods
- Ensuring the storing, selection and rotation of goods is effectively and efficiently positioned within the warehouse
- Measuring and reporting on the effectiveness of warehousing activities and employees performance
- Organizing shipments in/out and the accuracy of inventory transactions
- Overseeing Quality Control activities with analysis
- Identifying areas of improvement, problem solving and establishing innovative work procedures and practices
- Confer and coordinate activities with other areas of the business
- Deputizing for the Warehouse manager
Skills and Knowledge Requirements:
- Proven work experience as a warehouse superviser
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Proficiency in computers and software.
- Ability to input, retrieve and analyse data
- Good judgement and decision making
- Knowledge of H&S policies and other relevant Warehouse policies, procedures and practices
- Hands-on commitment to getting the job done
- Machinery/Operational/Transportation logistical knowledge
- Warehouse logistics and supply chain understanding
