The main requirement of the 2nd/3rd line IT support staff member is to respond to user IT issues and escalations, resolve high priority infrastructure problems, focus on preventing emerging issues through pro-activity as well as assisting with and developing IT projects for departmental, company wide and public facing solutions.

Athona's infrastructure uses industry standard server operating systems, virtualisation products, Linux, Ubuntu, CentOS and SuSE distributions and the usual Microsoft suite of technologies associated with any leading organisation.

The role oversees IT operation & support and ensuring that IT Inventory is correctly maintained and available upon request.

Athona's personnel are supported by Microsoft Office 2013, Multi-Functional printer scanners & follow me printing, bespoke database products are used for day to day operations.

Key Tasks / Responsibilities:

* Assist & Develop solutions for IT related projects
* Assist with planning the expansion of IT systems in order to meet company growth. Responsibility for all IT systems including servers, switching, desktops, printing and phones. This would include maintenance, fault-finding, upgrades, security and office moves
* Contact with all external IT consultants regarding databases, website, telecoms, systems
* Manage IT inventory and purchasing requirements
* The applicant would be expected to keep up to date with current technologies and be able to suggest new ways to introduce technology that would benefit the company and increase productivity
* Perform upgrades and maintenance on the infrastructure, both in and out of hours
* Ensuring the stability, security and performance of the infrastructure
* Minimising downtime through pro-activity and performance monitoring

Experience / Skills:

* Broad understanding of networking technologies and principles

* VMWare (ESXi, vCenter, vSphere, VRops)

* Firewall setup, administration & networking technologies

* Administration and networking of telephony systems

* Microsoft Windows Server 2008/2012 onwards

* Active Directory / DFS / DHCP / DNS / TS / VPN / WDS / WSUS

* Exchange Mail Server and Mimecast

* Veeam Backup & Replication (or equivalent)

* Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS/SUSE)

* Microsoft Windows 7&10, Office 2013 Onwards

* Laptop/Desktop role out, rebuilds, imaging, support


* Microsoft SQL Server 2005 onwards

* Programming Proficiency (C++, C#, Java, PHP)

* Scripting

* Familiarity of a multi-site environment WAN


* Remote Support Experience

* Endpoint Security

* Web Server Proficiency (Apache / IIS)

* Adobe Acrobat / Design Standard Creative Suite
