Our Client is a well-respected, highly successful multi-disciplinary consultancy with expertise in mining, renewable energy, minerals, waste resource management, utilities, infrastructure and planning.
Due to continued and sustained growth, our Client is looking to recruit a Senior Geo-Environmental Engineer to undertake a diverse range of contaminated land and geotechnical projects within the residential, development, infrastructure and industrial sectors.

The Role

The Ground Engineering team undertakes a diverse range of contaminated land and geotechnical projects within the residential, development, infrastructure and industrial sectors. The successful candidate will actively support the Client's ability to deliver geotechnical and contaminated land investigation, assessment and remediation services.

The role is within an existing Ground and Civil Engineering team that works closely with other disciplines, which include ecology and archaeology. The successful candidate will play a key role in the day to day project management and delivery of projects, assisting with negotiations with relevant regulatory authorities (NHBC / EA / LA) as necessary. The successful individual will be able to co-ordinate all aspects of geo-environmental site investigation, desk studies, interpretation and reporting, together with the ability to advise on appropriate remediation strategies and project manage sites through remedial works to development.

Responsibilities

• Supervision of ground investigations, soil sampling and environmental monitoring, including trial pits, window sampling and bore hole logging etc.
• Safe, profitable and timely delivery / management of all assigned responsibilities on numerous sites and projects
• Input to proposal writing, and factual / interpretative reporting / report writing
• Providing first class customer service to existing and new clients
• As part of a close knit team you will actively contribute towards the successful delivery of the Division's business plan and targets
• Ensure professional relationships (internal / external) are developed and maintained to maximise the opportunity to successfully procure and profitably assist in the delivery of projects
• To oversee, manage and co-ordinate with the relevant project team members to ensure that information flow and progress is achieved
• To work closely with the Directors and other members of the team to ensure that the company position is maintained at the highest potential level
• To manage and co-ordinate information and the communication process both within the team and to external bodies
• To work and dispense your accountabilities proactively and effectively, helping to ensure that individual and team targets are achieved or exceeded
• To attend weekly / monthly progress meetings
• To ensure that any arising issues are managed to the requirements of the company procedures and remain of prime importance

The Person

• You will be preferably be a Chartered Engineer or working towards, with extensive experience within the geo-environmental and / or ground engineering sectors
• You will possess a comprehensive understanding of the ground engineering sector as a whole and have demonstrable experience operating within a consultancy environment
• Experience in creating and refining work practices and procedures and knowledge sharing to aid continuous improvement
• Knowledge of geotechnical engineering and its interaction with geo-environmental aspects of a project would be desirable. You will be expected to combine site work with office based technical work, project management and support with staff mentoring
• Must possess an excellent understanding of being a member of a technical environment in a fast paced environment with the ability to develop and enhance the daily design processes
• Ability to promote alternative solutions through design, and implementation of new concepts to the business
• Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, being able to relate to people at all levels in an organisation and to establish and maintain respect both professionally and personally
• Familiarity with the relevant technical specification requirements (Eurocodes / BS etc.)
• Knowledge and experience within the use of Geotechnical software's such as Wallap, Geostudio, Slope W / Seep W, Frew etc.
