This is an exciting opportunity to use your communications and community skills and experience to help us raise the profile of Bath & West Community Energy (BWCE) and expand our innovative approach to community action on energy issues. 

The post will be responsible for a community engagement and marketing programme linked to the delivery of a range of BWCE projects, offering a positive and practical response to the growing threat of climate change. For more details see the job specification.

Key responsibilities for the post will include developing and delivering a programme of communication and outreach activities, building an active community network of supporters and volunteers, and strengthening local partnerships. 

You will have experience of community organising and marketing or communications work and be a self-starter, organised and able to take the initiative and work with minimal supervision and as part of a team. You should be able to work some evenings and possibly weekends and have a commitment to BWCE’s vision of active community partnership and a clean energy future.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week including some weekend and evening work, for which time off in lieu can be taken.

Job Share: We may consider a job share for this post.

Salary: £26,000pa

Holidays: 5 weeks per calendar year, plus Bank Holidays.

Pension: BWCE offers a minimum pension contribution of 1% and up to 5% if matched by employee contributions after successful completion of the probationary period. 

Work Location: Working from home, or office based in or close to Bath. To be agreed.  

Probation Period: 3 months

Contract Length: Permanent, subject to funding.

Reporting: This is a new post and will report to the Managing Director, Peter Capener. 

BWCE is a not for profit community benefit society, owned and run by our members for the benefit of the community. Our focus has been on developing clean local energy, community-owned for the common good. We have developed enough renewable energy capacity to meet the equivalent annual electricity demand from around 4,000 typical homes.
