The Dragon School is looking to appoint a Caretaker to join our Estates Team. This is a busy and varied live-in role where you will be required to ensure the safety and security of School buildings and the surrounding areas. The role has numerous requirements, including: maintaining the swimming pool, emergency maintenance repairs, and driving the School’s mini buses.
The successful candidate will need to have a flexible approach to working and be willing to undertake work requests with a can-do approach and positive attitude. The successful candidate will also need to be aware of health and safety requirements and be able to take on physical aspects associated with the role. Experience of working in a School caretaking environment is desirable but not essential.
The post is initially for a fixed term contract of 1-year full time 40 hours per week, and carries a holiday entitlement of 30 days’ pa, excluding public holidays. Salary will be in the region of £20,000pa (dependent on experience). Family accommodation will be offered as part of the package.

The Dragon School was founded in 1877 to educate the sons of dons. From these modest beginnings the School has grown to be an internationally renowned independent day and boarding preparatory school for over 600 boys and girls aged 8 to 13. In September 1995 the School (which has charitable status) opened a pre-prep called Lynams on the Woodstock Road for about 200 more children aged 4 to 7.
The Dragon was inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate in November 2014 and was found to be “Excellent” in all areas of teaching and pastoral care and “Exceptional” with regard to “The Quality of Pupils’ Achievements and Learning”.
The staff of over 300 full and part time individuals includes 120 teachers, 35 visiting music and learning support teachers, 30 teaching assistants, 35 pastoral staff and 90 support and administrative staff. A further range of individuals provide sports coaching and specialist services on a contract basis.
