Our client will be one of the largest pensions pools in the UK when established in 2018. They will be one of eight nationally pooled funds, and will oversee the investment of pensions assets, bringing together £43 billion investments of 12 likeminded Local Government Pensions Scheme funds.
They are building an FCA regulated investment company to manage these assets through both internal and external management with a number of investment vehicles, including an Authorised Contractual Scheme. Work on creating the company is well progressed to ensure the structures are in place to start to take on assets from mid- 2018.
They now have an exceptional opportunity for a Business Assurance Officer to oversee operational risk across the business, supporting the delivery of the business plan and strategic priorities. Supporting the development and implementation of robust first line policies, procedures and controls for the management of risk, protecting customers, as well as fulfilling regulatory/statutory obligations.
In the role you will support the Chief Risk Officer with interactions with stakeholders and lead the implementation of risk event reporting process and operational delivery of the risk register. Testing and consolidating MI and building scenarios for risk stress testing, you will collaborate with stakeholders to complete and update the Risk Control Self-Assessment, participate in risk and compliance meetings and work with the Heads of Teams to ensure appropriate training requirements are identified.
With significant experience of financial services, preference towards asset management, and an understanding of operational risk management policies, processes and procedures, you will have senior level experience of engagement stakeholders. A full understanding of financial capital adequacy requirement and impacts of risk, along with experience of delivering training and awareness is essential.
