Development Chemist - Hygiene products (previous sector experience is absolutely necessary)
We supply hygiene, cleaning and infection control products through a network of distributors. Main customer groups are in the leisure, care and hospitality sectors through kitchen, housekeeping and laundry. The role is to manage/develop our product portfolio to ensure it performs well within our markets/complies with upcoming regulatory needs and is produced at the best costs possible. You will also provide technical support to our network and customers. You will be required to improve formulations, launch a small but select range of new products, support developments in existing products and by applying your knowledge of suppliers ensure that our supply chain is well managed and audited.
Duties Include:
- Complete development, formulation and re-formulation of new and existing products to meet customer requirements
- Product evaluation, continual development & sample preparation for increased performance or cost benefits
- Assessment of new raw material suitability
- Support the delivery of product range to agreed time-lines product and testing method development programmes.
- Support the development of new speciality innovative products
- Technical service and advice to customers and distributors on features, application and use of products
- Interface with external test providers and supervise the special testing requirements of products.
- Carrying out effective on-site customer audits
- Investigating and resolution of customer product related queries
- Present technical information in an easy to understand fashion to senior management and customers.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customer contacts and raw material suppliers - Regulatory compliance Creating SDS/Product Info sheets, labels etc.
- Training of new distributors Personal Requirements:
- A BSc/MSc in analytical and formulation chemistry or in a chemical science with a strong emphasis on analytical chemistry.
- In-depth experience of working with compliance and regulatory issues.
- A team player mentality, but one who is also able to work independently
