EAST CAMBRIDGESHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL

Senior Planning Officer

£33,136 - £40,858 p.a. plus benefits

East Cambridgeshire District Council’s positive and pro-active approach to development has resulted in a period of growth within the district. We therefore are looking for a driven, systematic and dynamic Senior Planning Officer to join the team on a permanent basis.

With a diverse range of buildings and projects in the district, including internationally renowned heritage and environmental assets, new industrial projects, a major extension to the north of Ely and retail proposals, there are wide-ranging areas of work to be enjoyed within this role. East Cambridgeshire is committed to growth, with a positive and pro-active approach to development.  It is open for business with a strong customer focus.

You will be working in development management and will line manage up to three planning officers, supporting their personal development and ensuring an effective and efficient service is delivered to our customers.  In addition, you will have your own varied workload including delivery of North Ely.

This is a sustainable urban extension of around 3,000 new homes, a local centre, employment, country park and community infra-structure.  The intention is that this should be an exemplar development which respects the unique character of Ely.

You will have chartered membership of the RTPI and experience of managing a planning application caseload, including major planning applications for residential and commercial development.  In addition you will need strong communication and negotiation skills and the ability to work well under pressure.

In return, the Council offers a range of benefits including:

  • Flexible working
  • Childcare scheme
  • Essential car user allowance (up to £1,239 p.a.)
  • Training, development and payment of professional fees
  • Occupational health programme
  • Holidays, sickness and pension scheme entitlements

Closing date for completed applications is: 3rd June 2018

The selection process will be held on: 12th June 2018

Candidates selected for interview will be contacted by the HR Department by 7nd June 2018. If you have not been contacted by that date, please assume your application has not been successful on this occasion.

The Council is an equal opportunities employer.

The Council is currently in the process of implementing a new pay and grading structure. Please be advised that the salary offered to the successful candidate may change as a result of the review.
