Legal Fee Earner Assistant - Versatile Squad - GBP15,500 per annum

SUMMARY

Our 'Versatile Squad' has been set up to address any issues of capacity across our Motor division. The squad will be trained in how to deal with matters across all areas of the division, and will be placed into the appropriate teams as and when is necessary, giving members of the squad experience of a variety of different work types, both litigated and pre proceedings.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to work across the various teams at Keoghs within a fee earning assistant capacity. The role requires you to be placed within a variety of different teams as per the immediate needs of the business, under the supervision of the relevant lead fee earner. The role requires a willingness to adapt to a changing environment, and to move throughout the business on a regular basis.

The Fee Earner Assistant (FEA) will take on a wide range of delegated tasks over time. Whilst working within a supervised environment, the FEA will be responsible for organising their own work load and ensuring that a satisfactory level of quality and performance is achieved to ensure effective client service.Keoghs is one of the leading providers of claims-related services to insurers, businesses and other suppliers to the insurance sector. This enables us to create individual solutions for each of our clients that match their requirements in terms of quality, performance and value for money.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Whilst it is not expected that the FEA will be a subject matter expert in any of the following areas, the core responsibilities of the role will include:

- Review and analysis of files throughout the life of the case, and in accordance with the client guidelines

- Legal research

- Review of medical records

- Undertaking telephone negotiations with third party Solicitors

- Liaising with the insured and insurers where necessary

- Ensuring 'actions' are carried out as per the task list within the Case Management System

- Accurately recording time (where appropriate)

- Accurately completing the dispute resolution process

- Processing bills

- Ensuring all files are kept within ISO 9001 guidelines

- To ensure compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct 2011

Dealing with certain aspects of the Court timetable, to include:

- Chasing offers

- Drafting defences

- Completing allocation questionnaire's

- Taking witness statements

- Booking Counsel

- Drafting CPR Part 18 questions

- Drafting CPR Part 35 questions

As the role covers all areas of the business there is a lot of training provided, we therefore require 12 months (minimum) commitment to the role before being considered for any progression / movement into another internal role.

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

Essential

  • Good standard of education - 3 GCSE's grade C or above or equivalent including Maths, English & Science as a minimum
  • Ability to demonstrate an interest in a legal environment either through education or work experience
  • Have an adaptable and flexible approach to work

  • Excellent client care skills
