Bank Staff | Variable hours | £10.69-£11.58 per hour

Each year the College supports a number of students with hearing impairments who require 1:1 Signer/Communicator support. We anticipate that we will need to employ additional Signer/Communicators for September 2018 to support 1:1 sessions for students with severe or moderate hearing loss and those with Education, Health and Care Plans. Signer/Communicators may at times be required to support 1:1 and support within class settings, work experience placements and residential/exchange activities where necessary.

Alongside language and communication support, a Signer will be expected, on behalf of the learner, to liaise as required with College staff who teach on a wide variety of courses. This will include monitoring student progress and liaising with tutors to ensure student success and integration within the College community.

The role will provide support at various stages of the student’s learning journey and this wrap-around support may include: meet and greet, supporting attendance at events and work experience, as necessary as part of their programme. Other support may include: liaison with peers, lecturers and parent(s), signposting to other specialist services and assistance during student pastoral time and breaks as required.
