The position is responsible to, and deputises for, the Engineering Manager and provides engineering leadership and support for the Sentry whole life support programme, ensuring the safe and effective delivery of contracted Depth Maintenance activities on the Sentry E3D Fleet. From a regulatory and governance perspective the position will be required to deputise for the MAA Form 4 'Responsible Person' position and be responsible for ensuring compliance with the regulated and approved Maintenance Organisation MAA MRP 145 Approval, its exposition and associated procedures.
In discharging that responsibility, the Deputy Engineering Manager is required and empowered to make well informed and rapid decisions regarding safety and compliance activities within their span of control.

Accountabilities include but are not limited to:

• Safety, and regulatory compliance and performance against the MRP, the Cobham Safety Management System and any other applicable regulatory requirements.
• Monitoring, controlling and managing contracted maintenance activity to meet regulatory and contractual performance targets.
• Acting in the best interests of the company and the customer by creating and maintaining strong working relationships at the appropriate levels.
• Acting in an effective leadership capacity to meet staff welfare, development and succession planning needs.
• Ensuring that all maintenance activity is wherever possible delivered to schedule whilst maintaining safety as paramount and delivered to the quality standards specified in Part 145.A.65(b).

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

The aviation sector is highly regulated. Safety and compliance are the highest priority and the Deputy Engineering Manager must role model, drive and develop an engaged safety and regulatory compliance culture amongst the Sentry engineering team. The dislocation of RAF Waddington from core Cobham sites and its immersion in the military environment make it particularly challenging for the leadership team to retain a real sense of corporate Cobham identity. As such, the Deputy Engineering Manager as a key leadership role is charged with supporting the leadership team in encouraging the Cobham values.
Maintenance and the associated support activity on the Sentry platform is complex and requires the incumbent to effectively liaise with a range of stakeholders. As such the Deputy Engineering Manager must retain a strong customer focus in delivering the maintenance effort to the contract but be supportive to the broader company strategic aims. As such, the Deputy Engineering Manager needs to be prepared to work additional hours, be on call after hours, travel and relate to a broad range of clients
