We are currently recruiting a Systems Analyst to join the Business Systems team which sits within our IS Division and is responsible for the development and maintenance of all business systems within the organisation.

Key responsibilities related mainly to Education systems such as UnitE and Celcat:

Business Analysis

  • Develop business cases, options analyses and plans that provide context for IS investment and inform solution selection, strategy development etc.
  • Provision of advice and recommendations to the divisional managers on working practices, business processes and opportunities for business improvements.

Business Systems Implementation

  • Analyse, devise, and design systems/solutions to meet a wide range of requirements
  • Design, configuration, support and maintenance of the business application systems and associated reports used by SRUC and external parties in line with area of specialisation.
  • Management of and liaison with external suppliers for project purposes.
  • Creation and maintenance of system documentation and procedures.
  • Provision of systems training in systems used in area of specialisation.
  • Follow IS Group standards to produce project management and system change documentation to ensure alignment with IS methodologies and change management procedures.

Business Systems Support

  • Design, configuration, support and maintenance of the business application systems and associated reports used by SRUC and external parties in line with area of specialisation.
  • Management of and liaison with external suppliers for problem resolution purposes.

Essential experience required:

  • Experience in business systems requirements analysis and design.
  • General business (domain) expertise, e.g. Further and Higher Education.
  • Experience of maintaining UnitE, particularly some or all of these functions
  • Report Generator (Advanced functions)
  • Warehouse Builder (IICL based version)
  • Internet Builder
  • System Transfer
  • Data Merge
  • Information Interface Editor
  • Extended Applications
  • SFC/FES Data Return
  • HESA Data Return
  • General SQL skills including use and understanding of:
  • SQL Management Studio
  • SQL Reporting Services
  • Undertaken systems analyst, or similar, role through full project life-cycle on at least one significant application systems project.
  • Post implementation support for business application system.
    Awareness structure analysis techniques.

Desirable Experience:

  • Degree or equivalent in Business Management, Life Sciences, Information Systems or related area that reflect the activities of SRUC. 
  • Experience of maintaining Celcat
