Hours: 36 per week
Contract type: 2 years fixed term contract

We have an exciting opportunity for a new Physical Activities Policy and Delivery Lead in our Public Service Reform Directorate and are looking for a proactive, creative individual to lead the implementation of the "West Midlands on the Move" programme.

About us
The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) is a strategic authority working with partners to deliver a stronger West Midlands, with a focus on skills, innovation, transport, economic development and regeneration. Individual Councils and Local Enterprise Partnerships will still deliver services and retain their identity but on the big decisions we will have the resources to work together.

This is an exciting time for the West Midlands - the Commonwealth Games will be here in 2022, the arrival of HS2 will help make us a world class business location and a new £350m housing deal aims to deliver 215,000 new homes by 2031.

Against a backdrop of a uniquely challenging and evolving environment, we are looking for the right people to ensure we can meet the demands of delivering an ambitious agenda that aims to build a healthier, happier, better connected and more prosperous West Midlands. All our roles will have an impact on the whole of our region.

About the role
You will be responsible for developing policies and key strategic partnerships with national and regional organisations to drive the Mayor's disability and physical activities agenda. In addition, working collaboratively with our constituent authorities, you will determine the benefits and lead on the development of a European Communities of Sport bid for 2020 along with its subsequent implementation.

To succeed in this role…
You will have a proven track record of delivering community based physical and wellbeing activities across the region. A confident and articulate influencer, you'll be experienced in dealing with people in all walks of life, including local and national government bodies, private sector stakeholders, senior executives and members of the public.

Above all, you will be politically and commercially astute, with an understanding of local government and relevant policy areas - sport, physical activity, community wellbeing - and the policy landscape around these priority areas.

In return for your hard work and commitment, we will reward you with a range of competitive and attractive benefits.

To apply for this role, please click below and you will be emailed to let you know how to continue your application.

Closing Date: Thursday, 17 May 2018

We are committed to equality of opportunity in service provision and employment. Our recruitment policies, procedures and practices enable all applicants to be considered on merit and ability to do the job. We will make reasonable adjustments, in line with the Equality Act, for disabled applicants if these are needed.
