Construction Project Manager

We are currently looking for an ambitious Construction Project Manager to join our team in Clapham. This is client facing role so confidence and presentation skills are very important. Residential building knowledge and attention to detail is a must for this position.

Our dynamic team offers home-owners a two stage process for home extensions, the first being Design and the second is Build. We offer a fresh and straightforward approach to architecture - with a range of fixed fee design packages for clients looking to undertake a kitchen extension, basement or loft conversion.

The Role

The Project Manager will oversee construction projects from start to finish, including working closely with internal processes and procedures and reporting to the Construction Director. The PM is responsible for delivering projects on time and within budget and the role involves close communication with contractors and clients.The role is challenging but rewarding, candidates must have previous project management experience within the construction sector.

Working hours

8 am - 6 pm (one hour lunch break) Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and Time Management

Identify the critical path and understand the timing of each project stage. Ensure that projects are completed within set time frames.

  • Resource Allocation

All building projects will need resources from bricks and mortar to tools and basic amenities. It is the responsibility of the PM to have an understanding of what these resources are and ensure that they are made available.

  • Staff Management

The PM will be responsible for recruiting a team and allocating tasks to relevant team members, this may include appointing suitable contractors who can complete the work.

  • Setting Benchmarks

Setting benchmarks is a key aspect of monitoring progress; this allows the PM to identify whether or not the project is on target to finish on time and within budget.

  • Budget Management

The PM is responsible for the financial planning and monitoring of the project. In order to avoid going over budget the PM should build on continuous forecasting for planned and unplanned costs.

  • Communication

Arranging meetings and ensuring that all relevant parties are aware of the project’s progress.

  • Delegation and Motivation

The PM will be responsible for ensuring that tasks are delegated effectively and the team remains highly motivated to complete the project to a high standard.

  • General Construction

The PM must have excellent knowledge of the industry and must be able to overcome specific challenges/problems.
