Senior Program Manager

Cambridge

Brook Street is currently working on behalf of our Global IT Client to recruit a Research Programme Manager. This is a contract role for up to 18 months based in Cambridge.

Job Purpose

An experienced project manager, the candidate will ideally have relevant experience and passion for delivering early-stage incubation to shipped product. They will need to have the ability to work with world-class researchers and engineers to create a shared vision of project deliverables, realistic timelines and milestone plans. Communication skills are key, to liaise between the goals of research teams and product groups across the company to ensure all stakeholders are aligned on the big picture and the technical implementation.

The right candidate will have experience working across multiple projects and domains - ideally in markets including, but not limited to - healthcare, gaming, productivity, AI.

Occasional international travel (up to 20%) may be needed.

Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Deliver project tracking, coordination and communications skills to across multiple projects, with deeper understanding of the technical needs of the projects and where gaps may lie. Projects are efforts based in the labs' research that are typically larger in scope than individual researchers and often involve developers and/or data scientists. They may feature a team of researchers working towards a larger goal, in-depth interactions with business product teams or high-visibility external partnerships.
  • Stakeholder Management: Managing distributed internal stakeholders across geographies, effectively communicating project status and coordinating activities.
  • Product Management: Facilitate successful interactions between the labs and business product teams. Contribute to framing of emerging projects based on understanding of the labs' research capabilities and how they fit with the needs of product teams and/or external customers. Successfully work with research leaders, to communicate and share their vision.

Qualifications and skills

  • BA/BS required; preferably in a technical subject, (including but not limited to computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, biology or other natural or life science).
  • Programme management experience required
  • Experience either performing academic style research or working with PhD researchers
  • Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Keen attention to detail with analytical problem-solving skills. Understanding of business processes and challenges.
  • Some hands-on experience with Artificial Intelligence technologies would be desirable, although not essential
  • Excellent communication skills; fluent English speaker a must
  • Personal integrity, initiative, curiosity and exceptional judgement
  • The ability to work well within a diverse, geographically distributed, multi-cultural environment

Salary: up to £82698 per annum plus end of contract bonus
