Telehouse has an opportunity for a Communications Shift Engineer to join the team in London Docklands. You will join us on a full time, shift basis and will receive a competitive salary of £38,000 per annum plus excellent benefits.

Telehouse is the data centre subsidiary of Japanese corporation KDDI, a $42 billion Global Fortune 300 telecommunications and systems integration provider.
As a result of continued growth, we are adding to our team and looking to hire an experienced Infrastructure & Network Manager.
As our Communications Shift Engineer you will take responsibility for ensuring, during shift hours, that customers’ faults are processed in accordance with Telehouse Europe standards and brought to a successful resolution at both London sites. You will provide a value-added service to customers.
Key duties of our Communications Shift Engineer will include
- Receive and act on all customer fault notifications to the Operations department Help Desk during his/her shift hours.
- Investigate the customer network to board level according to service level agreement if stated.
- Liaise with customers or their representatives, domestic and international telecommunications carriers and third party maintenance engineers regarding fault correction progress and circuit installations.
- Maintain customer equipment manuals, network drawings and circuit databases accurately and efficiently.
- Follow customer instructions when performing installation and configuration work on a client’s behalf.
- Install telecoms cabinets and cable installations in addition to installing and configuring customer equipment.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of all related processes, equipment and working methods to ensure duties are carried out to Company standards.
- Responsible for security of FM areas out of hours.
- Responsible for efficient handling of customer deliveries.
What we’re looking for in our Communications Shift Engineer
- Educated to Btec National Experience level (minimum) in telecomms (preferably), or IT
- Sound knowledge of wide area networking and all associated protocols to perform sectionalisation and testing.
- Good understanding of RJ45, G.703, Type 43 BNC and fibre interfaces.
- Ability to conduct fault isolation and problem solving associated with WAN
- Ability to understand and use routers, switches, firewalls and servers.
- Good understanding of Microsoft and Linux O/S and associated products.
- Ability to configure and install server and router makes and models.
- Ability to use bit error rate test equipment and protocol analysers.
- CISCO – I.M.C.R. – Installation and Maintenance of Cisco Routers.
- Fibre Optic Testing & Safe Working Practices
- CompTIA A+ Certificate
- CompTIA Network+ Certificate
Working Hours: 12 hour shifts, 08:00 to 20:00 and 20:00 to 08:00
