National Account Manager – Retail

Based London Home Counties

£50 000 plus basic + performance bonus

Our client is an innovative financially strong, independent business specialising in the manufacture of packaging, party and catering products supplied to the retail and food service market. Following an exciting £5million investment plan, they are looking for an experienced retail professional, used to selling own label and branded products to the FMCG sector, to lead and drive the business growth in their retail business. Products sell in the ever growing food to go sector, household and party categories. Our products can be found in all high street multiples and convenience stores

Job Specification:

  • Managing and developing retail accounts, developing business with the Multiples, Cash and Carry & Buying Groups, food Manufacturers and on-line businesses.

  • Work with customers on NPD for new bespoke products and ranges

  • Manage the profitability of existing accounts and ensure commercials meet the business strategy

  • Manage the development and overall performance of the accounts to ensure the right items are stocked, according to demand and future forecasting

  • Build working relationships with current National Account customers (60) and actively seek out new potential customers (40%)

  • Produce outline business plans based on agreed volume and value targets

  • Plan promotional activities with the accounts to achieve maximum returns

We are interested in receiving applications from candidates with:

  • A proven track record building relationships within the retail grocers,  Cash & Carry, Buying Group’s and food manufacturers

  • Experience of working in a role requiring high level statistical analysis and accuracy

  • Formal blue-chip FMCG sales training

  • Ability to assess client’s bespoke needs and help develop new product lines with the Sales & Marketing teams

  • You could currently be a National Account role looking for promotion and the opportunity to develop the already successful retail business  or you could be an experienced FMCG National Account Manager looking for a new challenge within a growing business

  • A proven track record of building relationships with new and existing customers

  • Graduate calibre

  • Highly Commercial, with strong negotiation and influencing skills
