As a team lead in Electornics and Systems you will be leading a team of around 9 Design engineers, however still very much technically hands on in Electronics and Systems! Applicants from Electronics, Hardware or Systems would be a keen interest.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

* Experience in Design engineering such as Electronics, Hardware or Systems.
* Understanding and Experience of Analogue and Digital Electronics.
* Experience in leading a team of engineers in a multi-project environment, or interest to do so.
* Experience of project management tools and concepts.
* Experience in specifying, designing and/or integrating complex electronic systems.
* Experience communicating and presenting detailed engineering concepts to a technical audience.
* Good understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle, V-model process and requirements management tools (e.g.: DOORS).
* Competency in standard engineering principles, practices and tools.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide effective line management and trusted leadership for the hardware/systems.
* Ability to be technically hands on with the electronics/Systems when needs to be. Ability to lead a team within Electronics, and Systems disciplines.
* Ensure that the hardware/systems design and development processes are carried out and documented properly by the team. This includes the production of requirements, design and test documentation, plus identification and definition of the resulting tasks for the team.
*
* Provide accurate estimates of the effort and materials needed for projects and ensure the team meets those estimates in practice.
* Prioritise and allocate the activities of the team to best meet the timescales as agreed with the project managers and the Chief Engineer.
* Ensure that the systems offered to customers will be met by the delivered product, through detailed understanding of the requirements and the solutions being produced by the team.
* Carry out annual performance reviews with direct reports, assessing training/coaching needs and implement training. Complete holiday and timesheet approvals.
* Ensure that all work carried out by the team is in accordance with the defined engineering and quality processes.
* Manage security of information as defined in the Security manual.

Desirable:

* Knowledge of radar and related electronic warfare systems would be advantageous.

Qualifications:

* Degree in Electronic Engineering, Physics or qualified by industry experience.
