Temporary Transport Planner

Contract Type: Temporary Contract

Salary: £23,700 per annum

Job Elements: -

·Initially 6 months contract potentially 12 months. Reporting to the Master Planner, you will be responsible for managing the transport planning function, ensuring the timely generation of accurate schedules for shunting, trunking and delivering within the UK distribution and Export markets.

·Efficient and cost effective management of daily / weekly despatch schedules for a fleet of up to 400 vehicles and their loads per week. You will own all planning activities for full and part load consignments for direct and multi–drop deliveries in the UK.

·Creating and analysing transport routes ensuring commercial / cost viability.

·Liaising with the Planning team to plan daily and weekly volumes.

·Working hours will be 36.5 hours Monday to Friday covering a 7.5 hour day between 09.00 and 17.00.

The ideal candidate will have: -

·Applicants need to demonstrate expertise and a strong understanding of Transport operations in busy multi-drop environments. You should be a Transport Planner or Scheduler who is passionate about managing internal performance and delivering excellent service to customers.

·Strong organisational skills for planning schedules, journeys and loads.

·The ability to think logically.

·The ability to work flexibly and to make decisions quickly.

·Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with people at all levels.

·Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

·SAP knowledge an advantage.
