As a Security Officer, you’ll be responsible for providing a high quality security service at exhibitions within the National Gallery. 

Prioritising the safety of the public, you will protect both permanent and temporary exhibits from all natural and malicious hazards. Remaining vigilant at all times, you’ll swiftly act to prevent damage to the gallery, its paintings or contents. 

Your other duties will involve: 

- Assisting members of the public with any queries 
- Providing a high level of customer service 
- Reporting any suspicious objects or behaviour 
- Performing bag searches when required 
- Notifying the Team Leader of any lost property 

Interested? To be considered, you’ll need to have a five year checkable employment history or be able to produce documentary evidence of any period of unemployment, self-employment or full and part-time education during that period. 

Self-motivated and focused, as a Security Officer / Gallery Assistant, you will be a clear and effective communicator who displays integrity whilst dealing with colleagues and customers. You’ll also be professional with the desire to learn and grow. 

Ideally, you’ll have an SIA Door Supervisor licence, but this isn’t essential. 

This is a full time role, working 36 hours per week with guaranteed overtime.
