RAF Molesworth - Cambridgeshire

Permanent, Full Time, 39 hours per week - Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm (No weekends)

GBP20,500 to GBP23,435

We are currently looking to recruit a Vehicle Mechanic to work at our site at RAF Molesworth. This role is a fantastic opportunity for mechanics and technicians and involves working on various U.S Military vehicles as well as Fire Engines and high-spec Police vehicles. The working conditions are very good with a large, clean and heated workshop - well worth a look and a chat!

Key purpose of role:

Maintain and Repair Government Vehicles in accordance with the Vehicle Maintenance Program.

RAF Molesworth is in Cambridgeshire, and is a USAF station. This role will require you to work 39 hours per week within the core working hours of Monday- Friday 08:00am -17:00pm, alongside covering an on-call rota 1/2-3 weeks.

Main Duties:

As a Vehicle Technician you will be responsible for:

* The service and repair of approximately 150 Government Owned Vehicles - 80% + of the vehicles are U.S Spec and Left hand drive.
* Repairing and maintaining a varied range of equipment (including tail lifts, generators etc).

Range of Vehicles:

* HGV 6x4 Tractor

* HGV Trailers

* U.S Spec Fire Trucks

* U.S Spec Police Cars

* U.S Spec 8 Pax Vans

* Various U.K Spec cars

Skills, experience and qualifications:

As the successful candidate you will be able to evidence experience of working within a similar mechanical role and possess an NVQ L3 Vehicle Maintenance Qualification or equivalent. Due to the nature of this role it is essential that hold a Full UK driving license. We may consider improvers with some experience.

It is desirable (but not essential) if you hold:

* A Drivers Certificate or Professional Competence (CPC) CARD

* Mobile Air Conditioning Qualification

* Forklift Licence

* Inspect & repair to MOT standards

* Diagnostic experience

* Full Clean UK Drivers License

* Experience in road side recovery + trailer (+E)

* Tyre Changing + Balancing

* Environmental + Hazardous Waste in workshop knowledge
