LOCATION: Portsmouth

JOB TITLE: Learning Support Assistant

SALARY & BENEFITS: GBP12,356 - GBP12,718 per annum

WORKING HOURS: 30.5 hours per week, 8.15am - 3.05pm term-time only to include resilience, five lessons and tutor time

THE COMPANY: We are currently working with a mixed 'all-through' school for pupils aged between 4 - 16 years. The school is the largest state school in Portsmouth. They are now seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join the Learning Support team.

THE ROLE: As a Learning Support Assistant you will be enabling pupils to access learning by supervising and assisting on a one to one and in small group basis using a wide range of activities and supported learning activities.

Key Responsibilities for the Learning Support Assistant role to include:-

• Assist with the planning of learning activities by preparing resources required to support lesson plans and learning outcomes
• Preparation of materials and equipment
• Maintaining classroom resources and designated areas
• Assist with reading, word and number games, science and art and craft activities to support learning outcomes
• Providing unobtrusive guidance and support to enable pupils to find answers to questions and tasks set
• Supervise individual or small groups of pupils undertaking teacher-led learning activities by co-ordinating and explaining basic instructions for the activity, adjusting activities within the scope of the lesson plan and learning outcomes in response to pupils' learning
• Assisting pupil achievement by monitoring learning against learning outcomes, informing the teacher of progress/problems
• Administer and mark routine tests with clearly defined predetermined answers

THE CANDIDATE: The successful applicant will be able to build and maintain positive relationships with individuals and groups along with having the ability to plan and develop systems. You will be approachable and be able to listen to and reflect on feedback from others. Ideally you will have experience in a similar position, however this is not essential.

Key experience essential for the role of the Learning Support Assistant:-

• Experience of creating and working with databases and spreadsheets, eg Access & Excel
• Experience and knowledge of various ICT packages such as Outlook & Microsoft Office
• Willing to complete a DBS check at job offer stage
• Live within a commutable distance to Portsmouth
