LOCATION: Harpenden, Hertfordshire

JOB TITLE: Chef / Senior Cook

SALARY & BENEFITS: GBP20,416 - GBP22,290 pro rata

WORKING HOURS: F/T permanent, (including rostered weekends) during school terms + 4 weeks to be worked during school holidays

THE COMPANY: Our client, St George's School is an academy based in Harpenden. They are a state boarding school with approximately 1300 pupils. They are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Chef / Senior Cook to join their friendly team.

THE ROLE: For the role of the Chef / Senior Cook you will deliver a high quality of food for the pupils.

Key Responsibilities for the Chef / Senior Cook role to include:-
  • Preparing and cooking fresh home cooked food for approx 900 pupils
  • Breakfast and break time service
  • Breakfast, supper and weekend catering for boarders
  • Ordering supplies
  • Receipt storage and handling of all food stock , ensuring it meets hygiene standards
  • Dealing with customer complaints
  • Flexible approach to work
  • Ensure that the kitchen is kept clean and tidy

THE CANDIDATE: For the role of Chef / Senior Cook you will be a reliable and flexible team player, you must have excellent communication skills and be highly organised. You will need to live within a commutable distance to Harpenden.

Key experience essential for the role ofChef / Senior Cook :-
  • A flexible approach to work
  • Experienced and used to working in a busy fast-moving environment
  • An NVQ2 in Catering or Hospitality or equivalent would be advantageous
