Workshop Supervisor

This role is full time permanent (37.5 hours per week)

Our client now has an exciting opportunity for a Workshop Supervisor to join them at Birmingham Airport to ensure asset up time is maximised and equipment is maintained in accordance with stringent standards.

In the role you will:

  • Manage the workshop and staff and ensure effective maintenance and repair facilities for all vehicles/equipment.
  • Prioritize and manage work for the fleet workshops, maximising workshop productivity, reducing down time and optimising the availability of the fleet.
  • Conduct staff PDR’s along with training and development of staff in
  • Managing the budgets of the workshops and ensure staff are aware of and adhere to the relevant risk management standards.
  • Maintain an efficient maintenance organization.
  • Manage the integration and documentation of all new equipment and vehicles on fleet, assisting with risk assessments and SSOW for new equipment.

To be successful you will:

  • Have at least 5 years’ experience of successful management of a team of maintenance staff and a good level of mechanical/electrical/hydraulic engineering experience
  • Possess at least three GCSE’s / O Level or Leaving Cert (and/or equivalent)
  • Hold a full UK/EU driving licence (and ideally a Forklift licence)
  • Be flexible to work various shifts (shifts as early as 06:00)
  • Speak and understand the English language.
  • Have evidence of advanced theoretical and practical knowledge across the broad range of specialist fields encompassed within vehicle engineering,
  • Possess a Technical Apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
  • Knowledge of lean techniques and the application of 6S management plans and activities.

Previous experience of working in an aviation environment will be beneficial however is not essential.
