Our client is looking for an experienced Billing and Recovery Officer.

Candidates must be fully proficient with Academy and Anite computer systems

To provide a high quality, customer focused service. Undertake the administrative tasks necessary to determine Council Tax liability in accordance with legislative and procedural frameworks and recover outstanding Council Tax debts.

1.Provide a front line service to the general public by providing advice and information in respect of Council Tax Billing and Recovery enquiries. This is undertaken by personal interview, during telephone conversations and in written correspondence while maintaining a high level of commitment to customer care.
2.Responsible for maintaining records relating to the recovery of outstanding Council Tax, including, the creation of arrangements, attachment of earnings, deductions of Job Seekers Allowance, bailiff liaison, preparation of insolvency and committal proceedings.
3.Monitoring of payment arrangements, whether voluntary or compulsory, using both IT and manual methods and issuing bills and payment documents in accordance with legislation
4.Liaise with other service areas within the Council, external agencies and tracing agencies in matters connected with Council Tax.
5.In accordance with the need to achieve performance targets, be able to work with changing priorities in accordance with daily, weekly, monthly and annual work schedules.
6.Maintain an up to date knowledge of relevant legislation, case law, and Council policy through communication, training, advice and guidance and be able to apply this knowledge to specific cases.
7.Use own discretion, within defined guidelines, to reply to letters and take appropriate follow up action as required.
8.Follow department procedures and performance standards according to the Revenues and Benefits action plans.
9.To undertake other duties commensurate with the level of the post.
