Human Resources Officer

Gates Engineering & Services (U.K) Ltd is a major international company specializing in the supply, installation and commissioning of hydraulic and industrial hoses, hydraulic solutions, filtration and flushing systems, pumps and power transmission products. Our continuing success has resulted in the following challenging opportunity in our Cramlington Plant.

As an HR Officer, you are responsible for:

  • To provide comprehensive support to the Human Resources Manager to ensure efficient service is available to employees and management at all times including guidance and advice on employment law and company human resources policies and procedures.  Duties include identifying training requirements and maintenance of training records to ensure continued compliance with ISO9001 requirements.
  •  Supervision and monitoring of all absence statistics in particular hourly paid database which enables Management to monitor and review absence situation on a regular basis.
  • Day to day absence management for all employees. Supports recruitment process by preparing adverts, selecting candidates, interviewing and conducting psychometric / personality tests as well as conducting induction training on new recruits. 
  • Administration of time and attendance for payroll purposes All payrolls operated under compliance with Sarbanes Oxley Act 404.
  • Provides reports on Headcount, Absence, Training and Staff Movements. Provide training and administration of Company online appraisal system, currently I Power.  Control of disciplinary procedure and actively participate in discipline hearings up to stage 2 level. Administration and execution of site training plans
  • General HR business initiatives and projects as required.

Required Skills:

  • Wide HR experience required desirably within a large manufacturing facility
  • Must have good organisational and administrative skills including excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Software applications.
  • Must be able to conduct and administer psychometric/personality tests at all levels of recruitment.
  • Good communication skills are essential.  Current Employment Law knowledge is required.
  • Must be able to interact comfortably with all areas of the business.

Required Experience:

  • Must be educated to HND/Degree level and hold minimum Associate membership of CIPD.
  • Will ideally have 5 years previous HR experience within a similar role. 
  • Must be qualified to administer both Psychometric and Personality Tests as well as working experience of selection techniques
