Job Summary:
Customer Support Engineering team supports the operation and maintenance of OEM and Non OEM Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, Generators, Control Systems, and Auxiliary Systems. The team is dedicated for engineering support during scheduled/forced outage, combustion tuning, commissioning and balancing after the outages, during operational engineering support, as well as for new business development or existing business expansion while working closely with programme management, commercial and tendering team. The team is also engaged with customers to ensure reliability, availability and safety of the operating assets.
This position will be responsible for assisting engineering manager and engineering team for various customer support engineering activities throughout the EMENA region with a focus on Nigerian-based projects.
Job Description:
- Customer support and Commissioning of large frame Gas Turbine, Steam Turbines and Generators
- In-depth technical understanding of the gas turbine/ steam turbine design , operation and control system
- Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with MHPS / MHPS-E team members , customers
- Support the Operation and Maintenance of Mitsubishi Hitachi Gas/Steam Turbine, Generator, controls system and Accessory systems.
- To prepare and write Gas/Steam Turbine Technical reports, technical procedures, etc. following the instruction of the Engineering Manager or Engineering Director
- Verify, troubleshoot and maintain the correct function of gas and steam turbines, their supporting systems, and their control systems.
- Carry out commissioning of Gas/Steam Turbine and Gas Turbine combustor tuning.
- To plan, prepare reports for commissioning and combustion tuning after outages
- To support creation of RFQs and POs etc following the instruction of the Engineering team leader, Manager and Engineering Director.
- Respond to internal and external customer requests for technical issue resolution, using technical product knowledge and analytical skills while adhering to sound engineering principles, standards, practices, procedures.
- Escalate issues as required acting as the liaison between the field and design to drive specific technical resolution and to help engineering identify, drive corrective actions.
- Establish and maintain relationships with customers to make customer technical issues/requirements understood and addressed in a timely manner.
- Lead and manage root cause analysis for technical issues.
- Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting project assigned to resolve customer technical issue.
- Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
- Prepare technical presentations for Customers ensuring the timely communication of significant issues or developments.
- Provide technical support to Tendering Team on new business development on technical proposal preparation, feasibility study and technical risk assessment.
- Travel to customer locations to support customer technical review meetings.
- To support unplanned/forced outages to meet availability goals.
- Provide commercial teams with technical support for sales and services proposal activities.
- Act as interface between commercial, service and repairs.
- Development of proactive working procedures for future work efficiency
- To participate at the identification and resolution of Technical No Conformities and Request for Actions.
Person Specification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical is preferred with proven experience in Gas Turbine design, Control, operation, repair, service, or installation and commissioning
- Prior industry-related experience in a technical customer facing role / plant management (maintenance, trouble shooting, parts repairs etc) preferably on large rotating plant machines such as MHI and Hitachi Gas Turbines
- Must be fluent in business English and have knowledge of local laws, customs and language(s) for our Nigerian-based projects
- Effective customer service skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem solving ability
- Adept at communicating with all levels of the organization
- Proficient in writing technical reports, specifications and proposals
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team having people with different cultures and nationalities
- Good knowledge of MS Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, simulation software
