Purpose of the Job:
To develop the STV product portfolio to meet business and customer requirements.
Bringing a thorough understanding of the supply chain and the sales market into the business, the role fulfils an essential function, informing the direction and detail of product and range development.
Working at pace, it requires constant contact with stakeholders inside and outside the business to manage developments to tight deadlines, and deliver market-beating innovation.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
Market Research
• Collate and interpret detailed market reviews to understand the competitor and price landscapes
• Investigate competitor product to benchmark quality and specification
• Monitor product and range performance throughout the product lifecycle, summarising findings and recommendations back to the business
• Attend trade events and fairs and visit manufacturing sites internationally as required for sourcing products and suppliers, and report back to the business opportunities and findings
Product Development
• Support the business in the identification of new products and new ranges through detailed market knowledge, exhibition visits and factory visits
• Liaise with stakeholders, and internal and external resources to determine product and packaging specifications and designs
• Share meaningful critical paths for projects with the wider business, and manage timelines against them
• Ensure a detailed and accurate specification sheet suitable for manufacturing and QA purposes exists for all products
• Prepare a detailed artwork and packaging brief for the marketing team, and provide technical sign-off on the artwork to ensure that claims and statements are accurate and substantiated
• Ensure the manufacturer provides all samples of product and packaging as required by STV and it's customers, in a timely manner, and record and report approvals or amends accordingly
• To progress developments through a structured sample and costing process, including:
- Costed product briefs for internal approval (Bronze seal)
- Select the most commercial manufacturing partner and work through prototyping and sampling stages to gain approval for mass production, including detailed costings and commercials (Silver seal)
- Sign off first-off production samples against agreed samples and spec (Gold Seal)
• Ensure on-time, in-full delivery of NPD
Project Management
• Maintain a detailed record of all active projects and provide frequent and accurate updates of progress against timelines to stakeholders
• Formally record bronze and silver signoffs according to the timeline requirements
Quality Assurance
• Working with suppliers, product and supply chain teams and any external provider, ensure an effective framework for Quality Assurance is documented and process mapped
• Manage the QA budget
• Support audits of STV and its supply partners for quality, ethical and other audits as required
• Support the creation and maintenance of a complete and accurate database of product specifications
• Create and maintain a complete and accurate database of all conformance documentation, including Safety Data Sheets, electrical safety compliance, RoHS and other such standards and certificates that are required
General Responsibilities
• Provide an initial point of contact for customer service queries on product specification and regulation
• Providing product training to STV staff and customers as required from time to time
• Participating in meetings where product detail and specification are key topics
• Attend meetings, trade events and fairs nationally and internationally where STV is exhibiting to provide sales support
• Comply with Health & Safety regulations taking responsibility for the H&S of self and others
• Any other reasonably requested task
Relevant Skills and Experience
Essential
• Ability to plan and organise workload to meet deadlines
• Hands-on experience developing product for consumer markets
• Working knowledge and understanding of QA systems, product standards and safety data sheets
• Attention to detail
• Ability to communicate confidently and effectively at all levels, both written and verbal
• Excellent IT skills, including using Microsoft Excel
• A collaborative and open working manner
• Good time keeping & flexibility to working hours
Hours of Work
• Normal 40 hour working week, 8.00 - 5.00 with a half hour for lunch, Monday to Thursday; 8:30 - 3:00 on Friday
• All working hours may from time to time be adjusted in accordance with the needs of the business.
This is a full time role based at our head office just outside Watton in Norfolk.
Position is full time. Monday to Friday 8.00am - 5pm Mon-Thurs, 8.30am - 3pm Fridays.
