We're looking for reliable and dependable Warehouse Operatives to join our friendly team in Reading. You'll pick, pack and despatch customer orders, ensuring all consignments are prepared, marked and labelled to exacting requirements. The ideal candidate must have excellent attention to detail and be able to accurately follow order instructions to the letter. Please note this is a freezer warehouse and the environment is -22??C. Protective clothing (all shifts) and a hot meal will be provided. We have 3 different shifts available: 6AM - 2PM, 2PM - 10PM and 10PM - 6AM. Hourly rates of pay have recently been reviewed to ensure that they are extremely competitive in the local area and we can look at part time opportunities as well.
Your tasks and responsibilities
- Use material handling equipment to unload incoming materials from trailers.
- Verify and receive goods into stock.
- Receiving, checking and storing goods.
- Stacking products into roll cages and repeatedly lifting goods.
- Ensuring the operation of all material handling equipment is in accordance with operational procedures at all times.
- Work from pick sheets, labels or 'pick by voice' equipment and check and fulfil orders.
- Ensure principles of good housekeeping are maintained.
- Ensuring that Health & Safety, Food Hygiene Standards, HACCP regulations are followed at all times, within operational procedures.
Essential skills and experience
- Proven basic Maths skills at secondary school level.
- Ability to prioritise and accomplish multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Customer focused.
- Prior experience in a Warehouse environment.
- Able to work in a physically demanding enviornment.
- Work well in a team.
Desirable experience (full training will be provided)
- Full adherence to ADR, IMDG and IATA regulations when shipping dangerous goods.
- Operational knowledge of numerous Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE), including reach trucks, powered pallet trucks and counter-balance forklifts.
- Previous experience of SAP RF scanners advantageous.
- Microsoft Excel knowledge
