The company, based in Poynton, Cheshire are market leaders in the supply of prestigious volumetric mixing equipment. They are currently undergoing a programme of change and expansion - moving into manufacturing - and require a Design Engineer to contribute to the design, manufacture and on-going support of volumetric mixers and other similar products.
Your main duties will include:
- taking design ownership for the development of new products and enhancements to existing products, using 3D models and 2D drawings, completing supporting calculations where necessary, defining/ co-ordinating testing and validation activities, and communicating changes effectively
- evaluating possible solutions and being able to justify and deliver the best solutions based on the criteria provided
- contributing new ideas for machinery design and problem solving to achieve increased performance, improved ease of use, or cost reduction
- creating technical documents
- gaining technical knowledge of all areas of the machine to be able to support customers with technical queries, including hydraulics, electrics, pumping equipment and mechanical assemblies
- helping to establish effective control measures to ensure quality requirements are met
- using time efficiently to complete training and daily duties
- supporting customers, both internal and external, on the manufacture and use of the machinery manufactured by the company
You should:
- have a degree or be HND qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline, with a minimum of 3 years post graduate experience
- be a proficient CAD user with experience designing both machined parts and fabrications, preferably with Solidworks
- have a sound knowledge of a range of engineering systems and manufacturing processes
- be able to manage multiple tasks as part of a project
- have product design experience
- be within easy commuting distance of Poynton
