Financial Accountant (Maternity Cover)

Fixed Term 15 Months

Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Financial Accountant 

Reporting to the Financial Controller, key responsibilities will include: managing the process for the preparation of year-end accounts, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and accounting standards and liaising with external auditors; managing the engagement with the investment team, fund managers and custodian with regards to investment accounting and associated systems;  regular review and maintenance of the financial control framework, including monitoring the application of controls, developing and updating where necessary; managing the process for the timely production of Annual Scheme Accounts and to provide FRS102 disclosures and Scheme Financial Reports; oversee the day to day collection of contributions and payment of benefits. There will also be a requirement to support the Pensions Administration and Investment teams in their provision of data and to provide reports, committee papers, presentations and analysis for the Senior Management Group and Board of Directors.

You will be a qualified Accountant with solid post qualification experience.  You will be experienced across all areas of financial accounting and reporting and will have worked within complex financial schemes and will be able to work to deadlines.  You must have experience of managing the financial operations of a business. Including reviews and posting of transactions and the production of commercial accounting month end. 

Experience of pension schemes and investment/financial services accounting is desirable but not essential.

You will be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal and influencing skills, be able to meet deadlines and be a positive agent for change.  As you will be managing a diverse team, you will be an experienced people manager who can inspire, lead and motivate.

As this is a key role within the department, they are keen for an extensive and informative handover to take place, so expect the start date for this role to be 1st June 2018.
