This is an exciting opportunity to join a world leading, rapidly growing business within the NDT Industry undertaking design, development and manufacture of specialist inspection equipment for the non-destructive testing (NDT) industry.
Based in Milton Keynes, this position contributes to the electronics and/or mechanical design activity within the Service Team of the company. The aim of the role is to design, develop and prototype new equipment to deploy their innovative electromagnetic inspection technologies. This will include scanners, crawlers, drives, sensors and actuators.
The role also involves taking systems offshore and performing inspections with them for major oil and gas producers. Training will be provided in their ACFM technology and any required safety training for onshore and offshore site access.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain their remote tooling for subsea operations
- Ensure tooling is fit for purpose and meets specification
- Analyze client drawings and work scopes to determine deployment requirements
- Produce detailed electronic or mechanical designs
- Produce initial prototypes
- Support the testing of new design prototypes
- Conduct inspections using the systems on onshore and offshore installations and vessels
- Produce high quality written project reports
- Contribute to appropriate design review meetings
- Document the design process and findings
- Ensure compliance with relevant design standards
- Research and investigate new deployment components and technologies
- Contribute towards the innovation culture within the company
- Keep personal education and development up to date in line with current requirements
Skills and Knowledge Required
- 2:1 Degree or equivalent in electronics, mechanical or similar engineering discipline
- Excellent team working skills
- Keen to succeed in a design, development and inspection project role
- Problem solving abilities
- Capable and willing to work periodically in an offshore environment
- Experience with motor controllers, drives and actuators an advantage
- Knowledge of common components and design processes
- Ability to use MS Office products including Excel and Word
- A structured approach with attention to detail in execution
- Personal integrity and professional approach to work and colleagues
