We are looking to hire an ambitious Software Test Engineer who has a background in the development of manual and automated test plans for functional and system testing of PC and Industrial control application software. You will be joining a Cambridge based R&D organization who are developing clever complex instrumentation which are used in an array of different industries. As a Software Test Engineer you will take a central role in developing the overall test strategy and driving continuous Improvement within a dynamic software and test team. Ideally you will have a Software Test qualification and previous experience working as a Software Test Engineer within a busy R&D Software Test team. Beneficial would be knowledge of any of the following. MSSQL, Redis, REST APIs and a general scripting/programming language e.g. Python etc.
Software Test Engineer responsibilities
* Take a central role in developing the overall test strategy and driving continuous improvement
* Define and execute test plans for functional and system testing of PC and industrial control software
* Document test plans and results in a structured way
* Maintain and improve simulated environments for testing
* Learn the ecosystem through manual testing and plan to implement automated test methods over time
* Cultivate an understanding of realistic use-cases to focus testing effort in the right areas
* Liaise directly with Customer Support and Production to validate bug reports
* Provide input to the software design process with the aim of improving testability
* Work with the company's JIRA tracking software, Git source control and Salesforce CRM where required
Software Test Engineer Requirements
* Software or test engineering qualification or equivalent workplace skills and experience eg ISTQB
* Familiarity with modern software testing techniques, manual and automatic
* Good interpersonal skills for working within a multi-disciplinary technical environment
* Ability to produce clear documentation
* Strong logical, analytical and numeracy skills
* Some knowledge of any of the following would be beneficial: MSSQL, Redis, REST APIs and a general scripting/programming language e.g. Python etc.
Location: Cambridge ( Commutable from Cambridge, Royston, Bury St Edmunds, Bedford, North London, Harlow, Stevenage, etc)
Salary: GBP30k - GBP40k + Benefits (depending on experience) - potential relocation package
