Field Service Engineer

Their 1500+ employees worldwide are strategically located to provide our customers with the highest level of customer service and support, from our program management, sales, engineering, and executive management teams.

The company now has a requirement for a Field Service Engineer to support their customer requirements. The role requires extensive travel, mainly throughout Europe, with occasional worldwide travel, supporting our customers installed base requirements of plasma etch, clean, & deposition equipment. Typical customer base covered includes traditional semiconductor manufacturing, along with emerging and niche areas such as MEMs, Nano, LED and PV.

Key Responsibilities

• To assist customers with both on and off-site technical support, including the OEM customers across Europe.
• Installation of systems at customer sites, including initial process baseline checks.
• Fulfil customer support contract requirements, throughout Europe.
• Support where required, refurbishment of systems at our premises in Blantyre, including project management of individual system refurbishment & auditing of used systems globally.
• Carry out refurbishment of system sub-assemblies, including the project management of certain customer programs pertaining to this.
• Installation of upgrades for systems at customer site.
• Provide training for both customers and Ichor staff.
• Provide advice both internally and externally on equipment selection, upgrades, and process/ hardware optimisation.
• To coordinate with customers and Ichor engineers to ensure comprehensive support for technical issues. Where required direct activities of engineering on such issues.
• Actively seek to identify sales opportunities within customer base; e.g. upgrades, process improvement and equipment sales. Support the exploitation of these opportunities.
• The post-holder may, from time-to-time, be required to undertake other duties, which are broadly in line with the above responsibilities. This may include involvement with other forms of engineering as the business diversifies.

Key Activities

• Support both short and medium term contracts at customer sites.
• Refurb & installation of systems.
• Provide comprehensive technical reports and documentation for the above activities.
• Provide technical support both internally & externally.
• Liaise with OEM personnel to support the customer base

Desired Education, Certifications & Experience

• Degree qualified in a relevant scientific/engineering discipline would be beneficial
• Alternatively, HNC/HND qualified in a relevant discipline accompanied by apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
• Certified training in relevant areas/equipment would be advantageous.
• Semiconductor or related industry engineering experience an advantage
• Experience in plasma etch, working knowledge of OEM equipment would be a distinct advantage.
• Experience in related semiconductor processing modules (e.g. deposition / photolithography / strip) would be an advantageous to support company strategic growth initiatives.
