Summary of Role

Raytheon UK (RSL) and Raytheon ELCAN (ELCAN) are seeking a Legal Counsel to provide a full range of services to the business and work closely with the Director of Legal Affairs and other members of the Legal function. The role will require the provision of commercial advice within a fast paced defence technology and cyber security company.

Main Duties

• Review and where appropriate, negotiate a range of commercial agreements within the UK and across foreign jurisdictions
• Review contract provisions in conjunction with Raytheon policies and procedures
• Support Contracts & Supply Chain in developing templates and associated policy for new contracting models
• Prepare and deliver and support delivery of focussed training in key risk areas (e.g. IP, Competition/Anti-trust, Anti-corruption/Business Ethics)
• Liaise with external resources, in particular external legal resources, to provide timely and cost-effective advice to the business
• Manage routine, low value litigations
• Support complex litigations including disclosure and bundle preparation
• Develop and implement training and guides for the business including Contracts & Supply Chain
• Maintain company books and statutory filings
• Co-ordinate with Office of General Secretary to maintain up-to-date corporate records
• Review and renew RSL insurance policies
• Prepare litigation reports and accrual information for Finance for quarterly SJE reviews
• Engage with business to ensure insurance policies are appropriate to the business
• Research upcoming legislation and prepare briefing notes
• Support HR service team with non-routine enquiries
• Review due diligence requests
• Support Data Privacy and Compliance Manager with subject access requests
• Supports Legal Counsel - Manager and Director of Legal Affairs with business and enterprise goals and initiatives

Candidate Requirements

Essential

• English or Scots law qualified solicitor
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Effective communicator, capable of dealing with a wide range of stakeholders
• Self-motivated with ability to manage own workload and prioritise effectively
• Ability to establish and maintain a high degree of confidentiality, respect, trust and credibility at all levels

Desirable

• Familiarity with defence industry and related security regimes
• Experience in developing and delivering training
• Experience of working within an in-house environment
