Job Role: Employment Paralegal
Location: Leeds
Salary: GBP15,000 to GBP24,000 (DOE)
Hours: 35 hours - Monday to Friday

Job Specification:

We are currently looking for a Paralegal to join our Employment team based in our Leeds office. The purpose of the role is to run a caseload of Employment Tribunal files and also support the existing Employment team with non-contentious work. Experience of working in the employment field is helpful, but not essential.

Work is mostly claimant litigation, with some respondent litigation and the successful applicant will be required to help cover a helpline. If successful, you will have a varied and interesting case load, with high quality work including complex discrimination and protected disclosure cases and plenty of scope for developing legal skills in a friendly, collegiate environment

Duties/Responsibilities:

Advising clients on potential Employment Tribunal claims;
Running a case load of Employment Tribunal claims, including drafting pleadings, drafting witness statements, negotiating settlements, and instructing counsel or advocates as necessary;
Complying with service level agreements;
Supporting other members of the team in running their caseloads.

Skills/Competencies required:

Essential:

Effective time management skills;
Effective people skills (able to get on with colleagues, clients, other side solicitors etc);
The ability to work as part of a team;
The ability to prioritise your work;
The ability to work to strict deadlines;
An organised approach to your work; and
A positive attitude.

Experience required:

Knowledge of employment law and legal experience in a law firm;
The ability to run a caseload.
