Scottish Autism seeks to promote and provide care, education, support and opportunities for individuals with autism of all ages throughout Scotland.
We currently have a vacancy for a Charity Secretary, reporting directly to the Chief Executive. The Charity Secretary is responsible for providing effective administration management and delivery of services to support the Chief Executive in driving forward and achieving the key strategic aims of Scottish Autism’s Strategic Plan. This role will include providing assistance to the Board and Senior Management.
The post holder will be an experienced senior administrator, with the ability to line manage five administration staff. A high level of administration, organisational and planning abilities are required for this post along with excellent people and presentation skills, creativity and the ability to be a key team player and network effectively.
The position of Charity Secretary requires the successful candidate to demonstrate a high level of understanding of the organisations; constitution, governance, structures, strategic plan, policies, procedures, quality assurance and operational issues to underpin the activities of the Chief Executive, whilst line managing administrative staff. The successful candidate requires an independent judgement and a strong understanding and acceptance of the legal duties and responsibilities of trusteeship. They must also have the confidence and ability to challenge decisions at the highest level to ensure compliance with legal and other regulatory requirements, and in accordance with the governing document.
Experience of working, influencing and leading at Directorate/Board level is essential; experience of legal framework of voluntary sector is highly desirable.
