Our customer is a leading engineering organisation specialising in the design and manufacture of complex systems for the Aerospace industry.
We are currently working exclusively with this customer to recruit a Principal Systems Safety Engineer.
Role & Responsibility:
- Ensure that appropriate standards of safety are being observed during the design, manufacture and supply of a product
- Ensure that the safety aspects of design requirements are embodied at all stages from the formulation of initial design during the concept phase, through develop, manufacturing, use and until disposal is complete;
- That the product development programme makes adequate provision for the systematic assessment of items to be delivered to establish that safety features have been effectively included in the design;
- By reviewing and approving design drawings, plans, specifications, instructions, reports and certificates
Skills & Experience Required:
- Science and/or Engineering Degree qualified or equivalent
- Adaptable approach
- Team Player, capable of working jointly with others from various disciplines to reach a consensus agreement.
- Good verbal, written and presentation communications
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- Pro-active/self-starter
- Concerned for order and quality, at system, design, detailed design and component levels
- An ability to use their enthusiasm and drive to work autonomously and efficiently to influences team members and other stakeholders
- To provide coaching, to arrange seminars, to provide training sessions on topics related to Product Safety
- Provide Product Safety Authority/Chief Engineer with independent safety assurance
- Reporting areas needing attention to Product Safety Authority/Chief Engineer and Head of Product Safety
- To have been involved in the design, implementation and proving of Safety-Related functions
- To be familiar with standards associated the development of Safety-Related functions
- To have a good understanding Product Safety Processes in the context of a Product Development Process
- involvement with customers, suppliers, co-contractors and partners
- To have knowledge about UK Health & Safety Legislation associated with Products
Due to the nature of the work candidates will need to hold or gain SC level UK Security Clearance.
